Thomas B. Tyree, Jr.
Tom Tyree is Chief Executive Officer and a director of Extraction Oil & Gas. He was elected to these positions by Extraction’s board of directors in January 2021. Prior to his current role, Mr. Tyree had previously served the company as its Executive Chairman since February 2020. He also serves as a director of Antero Resources Corporation and as Chairman of the Board of Northwoods Energy LLC, a private energy company with assets in Wyoming’s Powder River Basin. Mr. Tyree was Northwoods’ founder, CEO and Executive Chairman from 2018 through 2019. He also served as a director of Bonanza Creek Energy from 2017 through 2020. Prior to that, Mr. Tyree was co-founder, President, CFO and a member of the board of managers of Vantage Energy, LLC, a private energy company with properties in the Marcellus and Barnett shales. From 2003 through 2006, Mr. Tyree was Chief Financial Officer of Bill Barrett Corporation and, from 1989 to 2003, he served as Managing Director at Goldman, Sachs & Co., in the firm’s Energy Group.
Mr. Tyree is also on the board of advisors to Project Canary, a Colorado-based company specializing in continuous, real-time air quality monitoring, which services the energy sector and other industries.
Mr. Tyree earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colgate University, where he currently serves on the Board of Trustees. He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
